Free Community Health Fair to be Held Saturday, March 15
Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, BMI Weve all heard of them
The same way we tune out commercials and the road noise when we drive,
weve allowed these terms to exit from our attention and our control
We are all too familiar with the diseases that can kill us - heart disease,
stroke, cancer, diabetes We want to do whats necessary to reduce our
chances of developing these diseases But do you know the numbers that are
key indicators? The truth is, we all want to be healthy, but knowing how
has not always been so clear
St Lukes Hospital wants to help, and we have a plan Its called Know
Your Numbers
The numbers referred to are those numbers we cant seem to remember or
understand: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose and body mass index,
or BMI This campaign promises to help people know their own numbers and
understand their significance
These numbers are the most basic indicators of health By knowing them, you
can measure your risk for serious health problems like cardiovascular
disease, stroke and diabetes
The Know Your Numbers campaign is gaining momentum Every hospital in
Western
NC has signed on and will customize the campaign to their
community We all have two goals in mind: to increase awareness of these
important numbers and to get people talking to their doctors about them
Are you ready to learn your numbers?
St Lukes Hospital, Thermal Belt Outreach, Saluda Medical Center and
Flutes of Hope are co-sponsoring a Free Community Health Fair on Saturday,
March 15 The fair is being held at Thermal Belt Outreach in Columbus from
9 - 11:30 am
Here, you can learn your blood pressure number, cholesterol number, blood
glucose number and your BMI number All for free
We have joined together to promote better personal health throughout our
community We hope that after the health fair, youll better understand
these four key numbers that are indicators of good health Unfortunately,
too many of us dont know our key health care numbers or dont know whether
they are within the healthy range We want to help you, your family and
your friends achieve better health by measuring your risk of serious health
problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and stroke

Connections; Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; Flutes of Hope; EMS; Polk
