JDRF A Night of Hope Gala to Benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research

The A Night of Hope Gala supports the work of JDRF, whose mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research Type 1 diabetes is a life threatening disease which primarily strikes children As many as 3 million Americans may have type 1 diabetes, the most severe form of the disease Diabetes is an enormous health concern– current government figures report that diabetes costs our nation more than 132 billion annually Until a cure is found, those children must face a long list of devastating complications, including blindness, kidney failure, and limb amputation November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, making the Gala that much more meaningful for attendees
The Caplans will be
joined by friends and fellow philanthropists Jocelyn and Danny Krifcher Their daughter, thirteen year-old Galit Krifcher, will speak during the Fund-A-Cure portion of the evening, where guests have the opportunity to give directly to specific research grants When asked about her hopes for her daughter, Ms Krifcher said, I just want a cure for my daughter Theres nothing I want more In considering her hopes for her own daughter, Ms Caplan adds, I hope that she can continue to lead as normal of a life as possible She had to grow up way before her time I think all kids with diabetes do -more-
