Research Update-Recruitment
Dr Barry Sears, author of the New York Times 1 Bestseller, The Zone has
developed an innovative breakthrough in food technology MedWell 1-2-3
healthy comfort foods are based on the newest dietary recommendations of
the Joslin Diabetes Research Center at Harvard Medical School for treating
obesity and managing type 2 diabetes Dr Sears said, Basically, the
Harvard recommendations call for eating one gram of fat for every two grams
of protein and three grams of carbohydrates, or 1-2-3, which is why we call
the MedWell 1-2-3 products
Dr Sears also explained, While dietary recommendations from
a
prestigious institution like Harvard are fine, it is still difficult for
people to implement such recommendations into their daily lives That is
why MedWell created new healthy comfort foods to make that process simple
If your patients who have type 2 diabetes are overweight, and want to
continue to eat their pasta, breads, and sweets, they are invited to take
part in a 4 week study Their foods will be provided, and they will be
encouraged to add vegetables and other healthy foods if they like
Inclusion Criteria consists of:
1 Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes
2 Not taking insulin
3 Not taking exenatide
4 BMI 25
5 No major medical problems
6 Older than 18 years old
7 Not pregnant and dont plan to be in the next 6 months
8 Non-smoker
9 Not gained or lost 10 pounds in the last 6 months
10 No food allergies or celiac disease
11 No history of thyroid disease
12 Under the care of a physician
If you have patients you think would be interested, and if you have any
questions or want samples of MedWells 1-2-3 foods, please contact Joy
Pape, 1-212-933-1756 or joypape@maccom
