How can we prevent something like diabetes? Lifestyle, lifestyle, lifestyle A large research study completed in 2001 showed that regular exercise and small amounts of weight loss resulted in a 58 lower risk of Type 2 Diabetes, and a whopping 71
lower risk for those age 60 and older More precisely, the group of people in the study exercised 30 minutes 5 days a week, and lost about 5-7 of their body weight if they were overweight Small steps, like starting with 10-15 minutes walks and limiting sweets and sugar-sweetened drinks can already make a difference Eating less fat and saturated fat is also associated with a decreased risk Eating more fiber and whole grain foods in place of low-fiber, processed starches and sugars can improve your odds of avoiding diabetes, too Diabetes will not go away anytime soon, and there are factors you cant change like heredity, age, and ethnicity However, doing what you can with those lifestyle factors that you can change may just keep you from being diagnosed in the fu
