BASICS OF DIABETES CARE AND MANAGEMENT is designed to improve your knowledge of the diabetes disease process Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: Describe type I and type II diabetes List the complications of uncontrolled diabetes, as well as methods of prevention and treatment of these complications Practice various meal planning approaches for diabetes Explain the effects of exercise on blood glucose control Review how self monitoring of blood glucose can benefit the person with diabetes as well as its challenges Describe some of the psychological and challenge issues surrounding diabetes and how to help patients manage these situations
