Type 2 Diabetes Study Seeks Participants
TOLEDO, Ohio, April 16, 2007 ProMedica Health System is searching for African American adults age 21 and older for a free, Type 2 diabetes study Individuals should be receiving care from a physician and looking for additional information on managing their diabetes As part of the Long-term, Self-management Support System study, ProMedica will hold registration sessions on Tuesdays, April 17, 24, and May 1, at 5 pm at the Center for Health Services, 2150 W Central Avenue, 1st-floor lobby Participants will be offered free study visits over the next three years; weekly education sessions on Tuesday evenings; and useful, ongoing information to help them better manage their diabetes Diabetes is a life-long disease that cannot be cured but can be controlled to prevent or delay serious complications Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes, in which the levels of blood glucose are too high High blood glucose may cause symptoms such as blurred vision, frequent urination, increased thirst, unintended weight loss, slow-healing sores, and feelings of hunger or
