DESTRUCTION

Zionsville,Indiana-The Bobbye and Jerry Sloan Hand-in-Hand
Foundation, based in Zionsville, Indiana, is excited to announce a 93,000
gift to the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Noblesville, Indiana, to restore
its swimming pool
Built in 1953, the DYF pool serves as the focal point for its
cornerstone program, the residential camp for children with Type 1
diabetes However, the Indiana Department of Health said without needed
repairs the pool would not be able to be opened next spring
The grant from the Bobbye and Jerry Sloan Hand-in-Hand Foundation
will allow us to finally repair our pool properly and permanently, said
DYF Board of Directors President, Dr Sam Flanders For years, we have
been chasing leaks and other problems and fixing just

what is necessary to be able to open camp every year Now with this
generous gift, we can
finally have a safe, beautiful pool that will benefit

hundreds of children with special needs, specifically Type 1 diabetes, in
Indiana
The DYF camp provides a unique chance for kids with diabetes to meet
others facing the same challenges in a support group like atmosphere
Dr Brian Sloan, Assistant Professor Clinical Emergency Medicine at
Wishard Hospital, and Treasurer of the Sloan Foundation, has been a part of
the DYF medical staff for the last several years He said the swimming
pool is the place the kids enjoy the most at camp
This pool has served as a cool oasis for many kids in Indiana that
live with diabetes and other impairments that prohibit them from enjoying
the simple pleasure of a summertime swim, said Sloan, who has a 12-year
old son with diabetes Work is finally underway to fix and restore the
swimming pool that has been loved by many

The goal of the Hand-in-Hand Foundation is to assist local
communities by helping both individuals and organizations with the
financial support they need to help them reach their full potential
It
focuses on giving to those individuals and organizations that have
specific interest in one of the following
areas:

Education
Athletics
Conservation
Arts
Health and
Wellness
